One lucky acoustic blues act -- solo, duet, trio or quartert -- will get to perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts before legendary blues artist B.B. King takes the stage on Feb. 25.
The Gallo Center and The Modesto Bee are sponsoring a contest in which Modesto-area acoustic blues acts will vie for the chance to be the warmup act for King’s concert at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 25.
To enter the contest, first register with UPickem, then submit your 30-second audition video by clicking on the "Enter your video" tab. Original material is strongly encouraged.
To be eligible, the singer, musician or band must be an acoustic blues act -- solo, duet, trio or quartert -- based in The Bee’s readership area, which includes Stanislaus, Merced, San Joaquin and Tuolumne counties.
Simply register with UPickem, then click on the "Vote" tab above. You may vote for your favorite band once per day.
All videos must be entered by Jan. 16, before 5:00 PM.
Voting ends at 5:00 PM on Jan. 31.
Contestants may upload their videos between Jan. 2 and Jan. 16. The public will vote on their audition clips beginning Jan. 17 at 9:00 AM. Voting will close at 5:00 PM Jan. 31. The results of the vote will be sent to B.B. King's management, which will make the final determination of who performs a roughly 20-minute set at the center’s Mary Stuart Rogers theater on Feb. 25.
