One lucky country music act will get to perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts before award-winning singer-songwriter Phil Vassar takes the stage on April 21.
The Gallo Center and The Modesto Bee are sponsoring a contest in which Modesto-area country singers and musicians will vie for the chance to be the warmup act for Vassar’s concert at 7 p.m. on April 21.
To enter the contest, first register with UPickem, then submit your 30 second audition video by clicking on the "Enter your video" tab. Original material is strongly encouraged.
To be eligible, the singer, musician or band must be a country music act based in The Bee’s readership area, which includes Stanislaus, Merced, San Joaquin and Tuolumne counties.
Simply register with UPickem, then click on the "Vote" tab above. You may vote for your favorite band once per day.
All videos must be entered by March 25, before midnight.
Voting ends at 9 PM on April 9.
Contestants may upload their videos between March 10 and March 25. The public will vote on their audition clips beginning March 26. Voting will close at 5:00 PM April 9 and results will be sent to the Gallo Center, A panel of judges will make the final determination of who performs a roughly 15-minute set at the center’s Mary Stuart Rogers theater on April 21.
