Welcome to the "Choose Civility" middle school video contest, sponsored by The Modesto Bee and the Stanislaus County Office of Education.
We're asking middle school and junior high students to create videos encouraging people to treat one another civilly and respectfully.
Any middle school or junior high school student in The Modesto Bee circulation area may enter. That means students in Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Merced, San Joaquin and Mariposa counties.
If you are under 13 years old, you must have a parent or guardian register an account to participate in the contest.
Either by yourself or with a group of friends or classmates, create a video of up to one minute in duration that conveys a message urging civil interaction among students or society as a whole.
You may submit up to three entries.
The winning videos will be used in public service advertisements for the Choose Civility campaign. Other prizes will include movie passes and Modesto Nuts tickets.
The entry deadline is April 15. The public will be able to vote for their favorite videos, and that will be a factor when judges from The Bee, the Office of Education and other community members will choose the winners.
