“We heard about the contest through Zachary's grandmother. She had texted me a couple weeks before the contest started and told me about how she entered last year, but didn't make it to the top three. We entered ourselves into the contest because we both grew up reading The Modesto Bee and we thought it would be fun to be a part of it. We are also big suckers for food and I love Ciccarelli Jewelers, so the prize was really enticing. Honestly, Zachary and I didn't expect to win or even get close to winning the Cutest Couple Contest. We just went on our social media and asked all of our friends and family to vote for us. Zachary and I winning this Cutest Couple Contest is all because of our amazing group of family and friends. We always knew that we were probably Modesto's goofiest couple, but to win the title of Modesto's Cutest Couple of 2016 is unfathomable to us. We are so honored and surprised to win this contest.

Zachary and I met in 7th grade at Mae Hensley Junior High. We were actually science partners. We didn't start dating until we were Sophomores at Ceres High School. He asked me to be his girlfriend during a slow dance at our formal and we have been dating ever since. After graduation, I went to college and he went to the navy, but we've stayed together at heart. We wrote each other a lot of letters during his Boot Camp, but when he finally got his phone after graduation, we've been able to call and FaceTime each other quite often. We are not engaged yet, but we plan to be by the time his four years are up in the navy.

We think our relationship is special and unique because we are totally ourselves when we are together. We also have gone through a lot together in the last couple of years like the loss of his father and we have been there for each other through it all.
